Children & Parents

Calm, structured 1:1 computing coaching — helping children build real understanding, not just surface-level skills.

A principled approach

Schools teach computing content. Verius Ratio focuses on computational understanding — how ideas connect, how systems work, and how to think clearly about technology over time.

Coaching is grounded in the national Teach Computing (NCCE) curriculum, but delivered with more time, explanation, and individual attention than the classroom can usually provide.

How learning works

Every learner follows the same curriculum spine — but not from the same starting point. We begin by understanding what your child already knows, then work steadily from there.

  1. Start with a short introductory conversation
  2. Use light diagnostic discussion to identify the right starting point
  3. Place the learner appropriately within the curriculum
  4. Work through concepts steadily in weekly 1:1 sessions

Delivery model

Coaching is delivered through weekly 1:1 online sessions, held at a fixed day and time to support rhythm, continuity, and confidence.

The emphasis is on explanation, reasoning, and secure understanding — not rushing ahead or copying solutions.

Sessions are delivered by Enhanced DBS holders.

Who this suits

This approach suits children who benefit from careful explanation, thoughtful pacing, and a clear sense of how ideas fit together.

It is particularly helpful where confidence is fragile, understanding feels patchy, or learning has become mechanical rather than meaningful.
